Rich in history and
culture Italy offers visitors a diversity that many other
European countries cannot. From the Renaissance
architecture of Florence and Rome to the high tech design
and fashion of Milan there is something here for
everyone. Some of the most popular
areas for holiday visitors to Italy are Tuscany and Umbria.
Sweeping Chianti vineyards, hilltop towns with bell towers
such as San Gimignano, meandering backstreets with a
Trattoria on every corner and olive groves as far as the eye
can see are the traditional images of these areas. Further
afield there is the breathtaking Amalfi coast with such
delightful towns to explore as Ravello, Positano and
Sorrento which almost seem to be glued to the
cliffs. The islands of Sicily,
Capri and Sardinia each afford a different glimpse of the
Italian way of life. Sipping a limoncello outside a bar at
sunset whilst watching the world go by is the perfect end to
a day on Capri. Sicily, with its rugged
coasts and memories of The Godfather is a totally different
experience whilst Sardinia, with its closeness to French
Corsica, has the feel of another country.
