The Orchard Climax - aka Coffin Climax - circa 1963
Built by John Butt and Laurie Ingram at Send, Woking, Surrey, UK in 1962/3. Own designed spaceframe chassis of square section MS tubing, Lotus 22 front wishbones, Mini Cooper rack and pinion, Triumph TR3 front uprights (à la Lotus 7/11, Elite etc.), Emeryson rear uprights, Lotus Elite differential (BMC A series crown wheel and pinion assy) and rear disc brakes. Powered by stage III Coventry Climax FWE 1220cc 100 BHP all alluminium engine/Weber 40DCOE carbs - self fettled.
