Runaway winner of the bullion  - victor Pete Campbell - with a score of 443.49V

’Tink there's some dosh in here...

Pete's winning technique
from the Horse's mouth

Saturday 1000yds
Wind fishtailed from 2 right to 2.5 left with several 4 minute wind changes - trend 0 to 2.5 left.  I lost the point due to a 4 minute flick at shot 5. The remainder of shoot returned to the trend.

Saturday 1100yds
Arrived very late having escorted the Earl of Belmore's son to TVA to advise on RPA Quadlock purchase (this must have been a good luck charm), and got straight down after everyone had started and plonked a nice 10 o'clock half a minute downwind. Number 9 escaped to low earth orbit 1.75 mins high (lucky not to be a Maggie!). Wind changes were generally 2 or 3.5 mins between shots, number 11 a lovely waterline inner a long way to being a magpie - probably the most difficult shoot.

Saturday 1200yds
Tricky, with wind from 0 to 2.75 right; poor light caused early elevation problems, as shots 1 & 2 went high. Fast moving cloud brought improved light and elevation returned to normality. The shoot was divided into 3 wind legs. On the first 2, the wind dropped from 2.75, with number 6 a low shot .75 downwind.

Sunday 1000yds
As close to a smallbore shoot as is possible on Stickledown, with a wind gently flicking from .5 left to .75 right, shot 4 escaped through .5 min wind error & a slight elevation hiccup.

Sunday 1100yds
Another smallbore shoot, with a central fishtail varying from 1 left to .5 right, a non centralised elevation caused by an unrecognised high shot together with a .25 change the wrong way allowed #5 to escape millimetres into the inner, which was to have dire implications for a near record breaking shoot.

Sunday 1200yds
With rain threatening I decided to shoot in comfort rather than wet gear; wind 1 right to 1.75 left with wind still fishtailing and increasing in strength. With tricky wind forecast, a safety shoot was called for and as the threat of rain subsided, the wind picked up. However a 4 V finish to record a 1200yd competition personal best, finishing equal to Dave Calvert's one day score but 1 V behind that of Jim McAllister.
